SANDY (July 10, 2017) – The Salt Lake Board of Realtors® will hold its annual Christmas in July event at The Road Home homeless shelter on Friday, July 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at 529 West 9th Avenue (7300 South) in Midvale.
This year 400 people (more than half children) will celebrate Christmas with Santa and Mrs. Clause. Realtors® will distribute backpacks filled with donated games, toys, books, back-to-school items, blankets, clothing and personal hygiene items. The event starts at 9 a.m. when Santa and Mrs. Clause make their appearance on a fire truck. In addition, games, crafts, and lunch will be provided.
“Donations to The Road Home are typically at a low point during the summer months,” said Troy Peterson, president of the Salt Lake Board of Realtors®. “Realtors® have been donating their time and resources to The Road Home for more than 20 years.”
According to The Road Home, a family is much better suited to address whatever challenges it faces within the comfort, safety, and privacy of its own home. In addition, children are better served having a room of their own, in which to do their schoolwork; and there is a therapeutic element to housing that best serves everyone in the long run.
