Realtors Give $5,000 to First-Time Home Buyer

American Dream Grant Awarded

SANDY (Nov. 13, 2019) – The Salt Lake Board of Realtors® today awarded a $5,000 American Dream grant to Bogar Vega, a 21-year-old electronics technician in the Utah Army National Guard.

“The American Dream Grant is an initiative started this year to help first-time home buyers with down payment assistance,” said Scott Robbins, president of the Salt Lake Board of Realtors®. “Salt Lake City home prices have increased nearly 50 percent over the past five
years. These grants often make the difference in whether someone will qualify for a mortgage.”

Four grants – amounting to $20,000 – have been awarded in 2019 by the Salt Lake Board of Realtors®. The grants were given to school teachers, first-responders, single parents, and veterans.

“The challenge for many military members and veterans is finding houses that are within their loan limits,” said Frank Coley, a licensed broker with Porchlight Homes and Land, and who represents Vega. “This grant is life changing for Bogar and gives him the ability to buy a home.”
